"Fightin' the Good Fight" or "My involvement in a drug bust"

SO here I am at work tonight when i come out of some training and there are a few detectives in the lobby talking to the 2nd shift guy. It seems that they had learned that this big deal Drug dealer was staying at a local hotel. Gues which one. Anywho. the kid working 2nd leaves and I get these dudes passed off to me. This was about midnight. they ask me how to go about getting in a room without disturbing the person inside. I show them how to bypass our locks. (By the way, if you ever stay in a hotel people at the desk can get in if they really want and there is NOTHING you can do about it.) after showing the guys how to do it they figure it is to ricky. So I suggest that I call the guy up and state that there is a problem with his credit card. They suggest that I call and tell him there is a problem with a water leak in the room below. This sounds good to me and then we wait for the legal stuff to go through. During conversation, I learn that it seems that this same sort of thing is going on at quite a few places tonight. They are just waiting for them all to go down at the same time. Pretty sweet huh? Anyway, I go back to studying for my exam and they drink a couple of pots of coffee.

Then, at around 2AM, about a dozen people walk in the front door with flak jackets on that say POLICE on them. It's like I'm in an episode of Miami Vice or something. (Thats a shout out to you older folks like me.) I guess I will be on the news tomorrow at least a mention of the incident. So they have me call up to the room and tell the guy that there will be a maintenance man up in a few minutes to let him in cause he has to look around to find the leak. Of course, They are the ones who went up. It went off without a hitch. No complaints from the other guests or anything. They were done before I knew it.

So there is my excitement for the evening. Now back to the studying.
I am just glad that the kid on 2nd shift checked the dude in and not me.

Finally

So I finally broke down and went out an bought myself the camera i have been wanting for who knows how long. I won a sweepstakes at work that resulted in some cash being floated my way. After a great deal of pushing from Amy. I was finally convinced that it would be OK to spend it on myself. I did and here are the results.

I found this case on the curb a few months back. It had some test tubes in it with some sort of Petroleum based fluid in them. There were some measuring things and what not. As soon as I saw it. I slammed on the brakes, threw thevan in reverse and jumped out. I dumped out the contents onto the pile from whence it came and saved myself some cash and the good people of Montgomery county some space in the landfill. Alittle of degreaser and it was good to go. Readily awaiting its predetermined contents.

I picked up the cutaway foam for $7.95 at CORD CAMERA, and I was in business.

Sweet. I am totally loving this camera. Very fun with lots to learn.

Ahoy hoy!

So here it is, your (hopefully) semi-monthly blog post for all of you fullyclothed fans out there. We just got back from a trip to Huntsville, Alabama to visit Amy's Folks. We shot down there early friday morning after getting a sweet deal on a rental. We booked a car for $20 and wound up with this sweet Xterra instead.

We got there after lunch time due to a little side trip we took to REI.

It was pretty cool. we had a good time with a few interesting
stops on the way back too. It was good to see Amy's parents.
The kids absolutely loved it and Jaisen of course was excited
to visit a state that she had never been to before as was I.
We geocached while we were there, taking Grandma on her
first of such excursions. Amy's sister and her husband were
down there while we were and they picked up 20 caches overall!
Certainly, the best part of the trip was a fantastic voyage down
to Birmingham to visit my favorite of all fastfood establishments,
Whataburger. this was indeed, the highlight of the trip.
Tom, Mike, Jaisen and I piled into the car at about 8PM for a
3 hour, round-trip tour to experience bovine bliss.

that is the SWEET Xterra in front of WHATBURGER.
Jaisen, Tom and Mike (the Brother-out-law are looking
on in eager anticipation for latenight delight or for me to
hurry up and quit screwing around.

As you can plainly see, we were number 37. But the food was number 1.

Jaisen waking up after the ride down there.
I have said it before and I'll say it again...Good Times!

More than one of us was heard to exclaim, "WHATABURGER!" OK, it was just me but whatever.

I had a number one, extra sandwhich and a Whatshake. MAN! Was it GREAT! I slept like a baby.
I also brought a plain one home for breakfast the next day. Who knew they were so versatile? Me, that's who.

On the way home we stopped by the Nashville Temple to grab a picture of our family at The House of the Lord. It is a wonderful blessing to have these sacred edifices. We were glad to be there and make yet another memory that will remind us of our covenants with Our Father in Heaven.

Seriously, Who would do this?

so i never thought that i would call someone who rode something like what is pictured below a friend. i even snubbed a dude earlier today that waved to me while he was on one of these and i was on my bike. anyway, my good buddy Adam is considering prurchasing one of these to get around town. he must not care to much for what folks think of him in that town of his. i guess i admire him though, prancing around in his pink navy pants to the beat of a different drummer. i asked him what his buddy Ray, another motorcyclist (not like adam) had to say. he indicated that Ray had pretty much busted his chops like i did. i shouldn't be surprised, adam does have a way of bringing people together.

anyway, here it is:
it is kinda cute. in a sorta pansy kind of way. it is aptly named "pony"

THE END IS NEAR

So the other day I got a letter in th email that was stamped with big red lettering "GRADUATION INFORMATION". Man did I love to see that. It was better than the old acceptance letter. Anyway, It basically stated that if I complete the classes I am currently enrolled in, I am DONE and cleared to walk in December. I am getting pretty excited and nervous at the same time. I have an exam I have to pass before I can work and I am actually going to be done with this stage of my life and career development. Pretty crazy. Me and a few of the girls from the program are planning an all nighter for the eve of graduation. Karaoke, bowling, waffle house and maybe even a few movies. Out until 8am and then walking at 10. Good times for sure.

Jaisen gets the ears pierced.

So Jaisen turned 8 and the first thing on her mind was to clip the old ears.
We made her pay for it herself so if you gave her some dough, here's what she did with it. the video is kinda shotty but it does the job. No flinching. She's a toughy.

Michael is doing well. He had a small fissure. A colonoscopy for a four year old is kinda rough but he has pictures and is very excited. I am sure he will show them to you if you ask. Doing well. Rowdy as ever. All boy.

Spider-Mike turns 4

Michael turned four today. To celebrate this milestone. We had a little shindig which included Entertainment in the form of Michael singing a slightly modified version of the Spider-Man theme song. Take a look for yourself.

Downtime once again.

Well, I am between classes now. Which means that you run a little better chance of seeing a new posting around here than you do when I am in class. I have been pout on the bike a lot since the crash. Ok, really just last evening and today. but I feel really comfy on it and have taken it all over town and into the next town over to stop in on an uncle of mine who wasn't here whatever. jerk! Anyway, It is cool just like I thought it would be. I am thinking about rearranging the site again. just to make it reflect our fam a little more. We have been doing a lot of geocaching so I want to link out to our stats and such. Also to framedpooetics. Hope all is well with whoever is reading this.

Good friends Good Times

So the previous post mentioned my good buddy Adam. Probably as I mentioned, the one person that ever reads this thing especially since I hardly ever post anything anyway. I went to his blog for the first time in a while cause wel,, the dude has so many other projects working at one time I have to schedule time just to see em all. Dude is motivated. I will list his projects in a minute. Including one he has got going with yours truly. Anywho, I saw this pic up there he took on one of his "runaway" visits to our pad back at Easter. Here it is:
Pretty cool huh?

That's the old lady in the middle.
Mine not his.
Anyway, as I promised my man has a few other things going on. For instance, rootbeerbrothers.com and framedpoetics.com the latter of which is the one that he does with me.

Pretty much a done deal..

So I am going in to take the last test this evening. I sent in my Research Proposal and who knows how that will turn out. the internship paperwork is all in. I am just awaiting my demise. Amy's parents are moving to Alabama. It is kinda a big deal as they have been in Dayton for 27 years! Amy's dad took a job down there. Jaisen was very sad to hear the news. She is very used to having them close and likes to visit frequently. Mikey doesn't exactly understand what it all means but he is really going to miss grandpa.
I got two weeks until school fires up for the Summer. I plan on using the down time to remodel the bathroom at the old house. I will try to post pics.

There it went...

It wasn't so bad. She was very nice and assured me that it was not nearly as bad as I thought. She gave me some good feedback and then told me to add some stuff. Frankly, that is the worst part, I didn't want to do MORE work than I already had. I will have to let you know how it turns out.

Monday, April 23, 2007

So here it goes...

I have ameeting with my prof in like 20 minutes. The research propoasal review wherein she confirms my sentiments thta I am way off anf should scrap the whole thing and start over with less than a week to go. Or she says that is is ok and i will get a decent grade out of it. Either way, I am fellin' the pressure. I have another paper to finish tonight before i can even start with whatever her suggestion will be. Wish me luck, I will let you know how bad it turns out.

Is there no end to this Self-imposed Agony???

Seriously! I am feeling the pressure right now. this semester is winding down FAST! TOO FAST!! I have a research proposal that is due on the 30th. However, i have to meet with the prof to show her where I am 9which is WAY far from being naywhere near the area next to the place down the road from done) on Monday the 23rd. I also have a paper (which is half done) due on the 24th. But, it is more important that i make headway on the paper that is due on the 30th for now. Not to mention that somewhere in there I am to study for a final on the 1st. and i have a workshop this weekend which will prevent anything that looks like progress on these things from being done.

MAN! I am nothing but READY to graduate!

Here goes "simplicity"

My buddy Adam tells me Blogger is better and i should switch so here goes. I figure the fact is, I posted more when I used Blogger even though I am less than excited about some of the ways they do things but whatever. I hope this proves to work out to be easier.
