Family Home evening delayed

So, in honor of Pioneer Day (july 24th is the day that Brigham Young arrived in the great salt lake valley with the rest of the Mormons fleeing from Illinois) Amy got some supplies to make an edible craft for our Family Home evening this week. For one reason and another we just got to do it this evening.
Here is the plan:

Here are our versions:

Circlin' the wagons.

It was really fun and a good time to explain the to the kids on how we can protect and depend on each other as a family.

Two Saturdays

So the last two Saturdays we have done some fun (and free) activities. First we went to the Butterfly Festival at Cox Arboretum. The kids learned alot about butterflies and moths and Hadassah learned about echinacea. Turns out she's allergic. Who knew? However, the most fun the kids had was getting their faces painted. (again, for free!)
Jaisen looking good.

Hadassah checks out the job.

So, I don't care what you say. There ARE male butterflies. They are TOUGH! too.

Seriously if there weren't male butterflies then there wouldn't be ANY butterflies. So keep your mouthy opinions to yourself!

Forrester thought that the face painting was "EXCELLENT!"

Just yesterday we walked all the way to Kentucky.
OK, so we started in Cincinnati but who cares?
Behold! The purple people bridge!

WOW! a Riverboat! Of course the kids want to take a ride on this!

Jaisen, Mikey and Hadassah take a look out across the Ohio.

(Hadassah is the pink blob between the two of them.)

Forrester clears customs.

Looking back to Cincy.

After a long walk all the way to Kentucky and back, We stopped by the Concourse Fountain to take a dip.

Best Mother-in-Law EVER!

So I came home today with this bizzarre looking package on the doorstep. Amy and I opened it and the entire time we are doing so neither one of us has any clue as to what it could be. Then at the last moment we saw something very familiar. The Whataburger logo peeking out from atop a greeting card on the bottom of the box.

In the box?
Whataburger Coasters of course!

Thanks a million Becky and Tom!
(Sorry Tom, I have to give her top billing this time 'cause I am sure she is the one that sent them.)

Testimonies of the Prophets

So I saw this on My Sister-in-Laws Blog and thought I would post it here. Thanks to her for setting such a good example in sharing our beliefs.

Visit from Grandma & Grandpa

Why do grandmas always get top billing? I mean it is always "grandma and Grandpa" never Grandpa and Grandma" What's up with that?
I'm not complaining; Just an observation.
Anywho...
So Amy's folks came up for a visit to see the baby, party with our neice (she turned 1) and to participate in Forrester's Blessing on Sunday. We did a lot of fun things, some of which are depicted here:
The night of the 4th we went to the park before watching fireworks from our porch.
Grandma pushed Hadassah on the swings. Amy and Tom watched.

The next day we went to Boonshoft Museum of Discovery
Again, grandma was found playing with Hadassah:
Amy and Tom? More father/Daughter bonding.

Just Kidding! Tom jumped in and played with the toys too.
Mikey really enjoyed excavating with his Granddad.

3of the 4 with our nephew in the lobby of Boonshoft.

Forrester slept through most of the fun so we had a little fun of our own:

Well folks! that's about it. We sure did love having Tom and Becky over. The kids loved it and it is always a treat to see them interacting with the kids.
